But this not true. The idea of building Sagrada Familia was of Madrid-trained architect Francisco de Paula del Villar y Lozano. When the construction started in 1882, Gaudi worked under Villar. But in 1883 Villar resigned from the project due to creative differences with Josep Maria Bocabella, a bookseller and philanthropist who commissioned the project.     Antoni Gaudi died in 1926 at the age of 73. Many of us don't know the real reason for his death and believed that he died because of old age. But this is not true. He was struck by a tram on his way to Sagrada Familia. No one recognized him because he was dressed shabbily and did not have any identifying documents with him. A priest of Sagrada Familia recognized him in the hospital. Bt his health get so deteriorated that he died on 10th June 1926.   During the Spanish civil war in 1936, many plans projects and design of the Sagrada Familia was destroyed. However Sagrada Familia was spared in the bombing raids of Spanish civil war, but due anti-clericalism of Spanish republicans it was not left unscathed.   Although it is impossible to estimate the total construction cost of Sagrada Familia.  It is interesting to know that the construction of Sagrada Familia never received any funds from any public and church.
